I’m glad to say flat cut lettering is now manufactured in-house at Print 2 Media.
Most sign-makers offer flat cut letters, but in many cases they will be outsourcing the manufacture to a trade partner. There’s nothing wrong with that per se – many manufacturers won’t deal direct with customers, only re-sellers / distributors – but if you can deal direct with the people making the goods you know you’re getting the best price.
One-stop print shop
We’ve always aimed to offer as many (relevant) products as we can, so our customers can come to us and get all the print they need for their exhibition, retail space, work site, factory or office without having to trawl through lots of different suppliers and pay multiple shipping charges.
Sometimes this means we work with a trade partner who will supply parts we can’t produce ourselves. Gradually, we are moving production of each product in-house and flat cut lettering is the latest product to be made by our own fair hands!
Investing in the latest and best technology
It’s not strictly true that our letters are cut by hand… I’ll admit, we’ve been able to offer cut lettering because of some new equipment we’ve invested in.
Our CNC flat-bed cutter turned up earlier this year… we’ve neglected to tell you about it until now because we’ve been so busy over the summer working on large events. I’ll remedy that in my next post which should be appearing shortly but until then, suffice to say it’s a highly accurate vinyl and solid board cutter and router that cuts or routs complicated shapes out of a variety of materials.
This means we can now make acrylic flat cut letters, foamex flat cut letters and dibond flat cut letters (not to mention a range of other shaped signage).
That’s great, but what the heck is flat cut lettering?
If you’re not sure what flat cut lettering is, think of the 3D logotype that’s almost certainly above the entrance of your local professional services businesses (solicitors, accountants, estate agents etc.) or maybe even your local fast-food takeaway. Something like this:
Flat cut lettering is often used with traditional fonts to give a business a sense of ‘prestige’, but with the range of materials available these days, you can create all manner of funky effects… take a look at this photo of a sample block of fluorescent acrylic…
What are you waiting for?
