Description
Foamex is a composite foam material, sometimes called Forex, Foam PVC or Foam Board PVC. It’s rigid but lightweight and available in three thicknesses – 3mm, 5mm and 10mm.
3mm foamex can be a bit flexible for a large sign but is fine for fixing to an internal wall or an in situ solid back-board. It’s perfect for cladding exhibition shell schemes.
5mm is the standard – perfect for foamex signs and is rigid enough to span small gaps.
10mm is great when extra rigidity is required but it weighs more – you might be better off with an aluminium dibond sign. The 10mm thickness also generates impact.
Your choice of finish
Our foamex signs are printed straight-to-board. They are fully weather-proof for outdoor use. They have a satin finish that is somewhere between matt and gloss.
If you want extra scratch resistance and increased UV protection, or you just want a definitive matt or gloss finish then choose one of our laminated options.
Please note our standard unlaminated product is fully suitable for outdoor use. Lamination is not normally necessary but may be desirable for hard wear areas or if you require a very matt or very gloss finish.

Contour-cutting
Our foamex signs can be contour cut to any shape (including internal cuts for creating slots and windows). Just choose the contour-cut option from the form above and supply artwork with a suitable vector cut-line (check out our artwork guidelines for more information).

Alternatives
If you’re looking for an outdoor sign that is going to be subject to a high wind load, you might prefer an aluminium dibond sign.

We printed our company logo at 140cm x 121cm and paid a little extra for Print 2 Media to cut it to size. The logo was packaged really well and arrived promptly. Unfortunately, we weren’t completely happy with the cut around the edge of the sign and asked Print 2 Media whether there was anything they could do. They ended up sending us another, uncut, version free of charge! This is great customer service and above and beyond what might’ve been expected. We’d definitely use Print 2 Media again.

Ordered 4 separate foamex boards as text panels for an art exhibition. I can not fault the signs – they are brilliantly done and an excellent price. I have only knocked one star off my rating because one sign got damaged during transit and delivery. However, this is the fault of the courier and I was immediately sent a replacement by Print 2 Media. It arrived with me two days later, so they obviously provide a great turn around time. My only thought is whether slightly more bubble wrap would add that extra bit of protection for the prints during their delivery.
